BONE IDLE DJs

FRIDAY NIGHT at The Sports Bar was hosted by the rather awesome Trio of Cerberus, djNO and George Gallant. They all play different stuff but they certainly were on the same wavelength. Cerberus opened and closed the show with some breakbeat scratching which stunned most of the people in the bar Seriously impressive skills. djNO played some nice 12" to his strengths, with some adult nu-jazz and a gave a really polished performance. George Gallant showed us how to party like it's 2008, with some great old school tracks.

Bone Idle were on good form this evening and it's shame if you missed them. However, they will be playing every last Thursday of the month from now on, so the next chance you have is Thursday Sept 25th. If you want The Sports Bar to remind you of this nearer the time, you can visit the official site and sign up for the free text alerts. If you sign up for Events/Evenings then you'll be reminded when they're on next as well as any other events the bar put on. You can do that here.

Premier League

Something to lighten the mood, here is a very comprehensive table of the entire life of the Premier League. Some SERIOUS stats there for those book heads out there!

Premier League All Time Table
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-time_FA_Premier_League_table

We obviously had nothing to do with this table...goes without saying :-)

ENGLAND, ENGLAND....oh england

lucky to escape without defeat at the hands of an un-menacing Czech Republic team. They obviously scored a good goal, but no where near as good as Ashley Cole's opener.

Well, we pretty much had a full house this evening and there was a very relieved cheer as the slighter better Cole (Joe) scored the equaliser in the 92nd minute.

We think that the fabulous manager should start thinking long term and forget about the old foggies running the show today. They are yesterday's not-quite-heros, step aside and let the youngsters have a go. Fergies' Fledglings did it, Wenger's Nappy-Pack may be about to do something special this year. Time for a change Fab. England?
Commentary off :-)

Wednesday Night

Tonight we had a Sports Bar first, of having 4 different sports on 4 different TVs at once. It was rather cool with Arsenal, Liverpool and Birmingham all in action as well as some Olympic games.

The scores were not overly surprising:
FC Twente 0 -2 Arsenal
Standard Liege 0 - 0 Liverpool
Wycombe Wanderers 0 - 4 Birmingham City

Community Shield

Manchester United collected their first trophy of the new season with a Penalty shootout win over Portsmouth. It was a stalemate after 93mins, so it went to penalties, with united winning 3-1.

Many cheers from the hords of United fans that were in today, but the pompey boys held their heads high.

I think this game set the tone for the rest of the season, what are your thoughts? United again?

Friday Night

Friday night was the place to be, in a packed house with a dance music theme the bar had a lively atmosphere and a good time was had by all.

The live games were well attended, with Liverpool v Lazio and Ajax v Arsenal.

So Jimmy will be the assistant manager here at the Sports Bar, and he's raring to go with loads of energy.
